Liberal Democrats win in Bromsgrove11.30.00pm GMT Thu 9th Dec 2004
The Liberal Democrats have tonight won the Slideslow by-election in Bromsgrove District Council. Gordon Selway won the seat from the Conservatives Party on a massive swing of 20.8%. Gordon Selway said "I am extremely pleased with the result and the huge swing from the Conservatives, it is an honour and a privilege to have been elected and I will serve the residents to the best of my ability." The full result: Gordon Selway Liberal Democrat 435 votes 47.13% Conservative 207 votes 22.42% Bromsgrove Independent Group 165 votes 17.88% Labour 114 votes 12.35% In the other West Midlands by-election in Biddulph North Ward of Staffordshire Moorlands District Council the Conservatives also lost, this time to an Independent.
