Better enforcement needed to prevent Saturday night supermarket after parties - Foster6.59.32pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 28th Jul 2005 Commenting on reports that 900 supermarkets have applied for licences to sell alcohol around the clock, Liberal Democrat Culture Spokesman, Don Foster MP said: "The Government's blind spot on 24 hour drinking has always been supermarkets. "Labour must now review their policy that focuses on binge drinking levies on pubs and bars but fails to tackle supermarkets. "There have been fewer than 11 prosecutions a year for selling alcohol to a person who is already drunk since Labour came to power. "The Government must enforce existing laws to stop supermarkets becoming the after-parties of choice for Saturday night revellers."
