Howarth comments totally irresponsible - Oaten

Mark Oaten MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Home Secretary, responding to Gerald Howarth's comments in The Scotsman, said:

"These comments are completely irresponsible and will do nothing to lower the community tensions highlighted by the huge increase in religious and race motivated attacks since 7/7.

"Britain should be pulling together to tackle extremism. These comments are extremely unhelpful and Mr Howarth should know better."
