Falconer warning on Judges should be heeded by Blair

5.32.10pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 18th Oct 2005

Responding to Lord Falconer's warnings today that judges should not face 'undue pressure' from ministers over the outcome of court cases, Liberal Democrat Shadow Home Secretary, Mark Oaten MP said:

"The Prime Minister and successive Home Secretaries have virtually declared war on judges since 1997.

"Tony Blair should listen to his old friend and rather than undermining centuries of tradition, he should work with, rather than against, the judiciary."
