Government must do its duty and look after British veterans

10.16.00pm GMT Thu 10th Nov 2005

Michael Moore MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Defence Secretary, responding to a survey by the Royal British Legion which found that half of British armed forces veterans live on disposable incomes of less than £10,000 a year, said:

"As we pay our respects and tributes on Remembrance Sunday it is a disgrace that so many of our brave veterans are reduced to living on such a small amount.

"The Royal British Legion and other organisations perform a wonderful service but the Government ought to do its duty too."
