Lights might not go off, but millions will be plunged into fuel poverty

5.35.40pm GMT Wed 23rd Nov 2005

Norman Lamb MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow DTI Secretary, responding to Alan Johnson's assertion that the lights across Britain will not go out this winter 'under any scenario whatsoever', said:

"The lights might not be going out, but the cost of switching them on is likely to rise massively plunging millions of people further into fuel poverty.

"The Government has failed to tackle energy waste and failed to prepare adequately for the impact on industry this winter."
