Solihull Member of Parliament launches report on her first 6 months in office

6.36.22pm GMT Mon 28th Nov 2005

Lorely Burt MP has this week launched a major report of her first six months in Parliament, following her successful election back in May.

Commenting, Lorely said "A key election promise was that things would be different in Solihull with a Liberal Democrat MP. And they are. As the local Member of Parliament for Solihull, I believe its important that people can see what their local MP is doing on their behalf, hence this report - the first of its kind for Solihull, along with my website at www.lorelyburt.org.uk".

"The Conservatives have already admitted they took Solihull for granted" added Mrs Burt. "Not so the Liberal Democrats".

Mrs Burt has been busy since her election triumph. She has fulfilled her election promise to introduce a Bill in Parliament to protect parkland and combat windfall development. She has also campaigned for Carer's rights, challenged Birmingham Airport on the proposed second runway and has actively opposed windfall development.

Cllr Norman Davies, leader of the Lib Dem opposition on Solihull Council said "Lorely has already made a terrific impact, by moving her Bill in the House of Commons, delivering her Ovarian Cancer petition to 10 Downing Street and campaigning in a way that Solihull never saw under the Conservatives I look forward to continue working with her, not least to fight against the loss of parkland, planned by the Conservatives, but resisted by local residents".
