Government must listen to dentists over new contract

6.38.14pm GMT Mon 28th Nov 2005

Commenting on the British Dental Association claim that many dentists could leave before the introduction of a new contract next year, Liberal Democrat Shadow Health Secretary, Steve Webb MP said:

"This is a critical moment for NHS dentistry. The new contract could be the last straw for many dentists, who are considering leaving the NHS in droves.

"We have been warning the Government about the threat of dentists leaving the NHS for months now. Let's hope that they sit up and listen to dentist leaders before it is too late. "
