Stamp price rises indicative of Government incompetence

10.10.00am GMT Wed 7th Dec 2005

Commenting on the announcement of a 2p price rise on first class stamps, Norman Lamb MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow DTI Secretary said:

"Consumers are now paying for years of under investment in Royal Mail.

"Despite massive efforts by current management, a history of incompetent Government involvement has put Royal Mail at a disadvantage just as it is about to lose its residential delivery monopoly."
