Statement by Sir Menzies Campbell MP6.00.05pm GMT Thu 15th Dec 2005 Commenting on reports in today's media, Sir Menzies Campbell MP, Liberal Democrat Deputy Leader, said: "On Wednesday afternoon I had a private meeting by mutual arrangement with Charles Kennedy in his office. When I left that meeting I was met in the corridor by a number of journalists. Unlike others I followed the advice of the Chief Whip and Mr. Kennedy's own office not to comment on private conversations with him. "I do not have any intention of standing against Charles Kennedy. I welcome the fact that Simon Hughes and Mark Oaten have given similar assurances. As long as Charles Kennedy remains leader of the Liberal Democrats he has my full support."
