KEETCH SPONSORS PARLIAMENTARY MOTION ON FLOODING12.00.00am GMT Wed 11th Jan 2006
Paul Keetch, Member of Parliament for Hereford, has sponsored a cross-party parliamentary motion on the increasing incidence of flooding in the UK. Commenting Mr Keetch said: "I am delighted to be one of the primary sponsors of this motion. Flooding is a major problem in Herefordshire particularly and throughout the UK - a situation which global warming can only make worse. "Many of my constituents have suffered terribly from the adverse effects of flooding and something needs to be done. "I urge the Government to make flood defence one of their environmental priorities and acknowledge that further investment is needed to alleviate the problems of flooding in many vulnerable areas of the country, including South Herefordshire.
