Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, Chris Huhne MP

Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, Chris Huhne MP, has today written to the Leader of the Conservatives, David Cameron, asking him to explain why members of his party, Eric Forth and Christopher Chope, attempted to kill off the Climate Change and Sustainable Energy Bill last Friday through filibustering.

Commenting, Chris Huhne, said "The Liberal Democrats are fully supportive of this Bill - all of our MPs have signed a Commons motion supporting it, as it is a clear step in the right direction.

"David Cameron's claims that his party support action on tackling climate change, yet he doesn't appear to have any control over members of his own party who are out to wreck this Bill.

"I am writing to Mr Cameron today asking whether he can guarantee support from his whole party when the Bill returns on Friday."
