Criminal records fiasco takes Home Office incompetence to new levels - Clegg12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Sun 21st May 2006 Commenting on reports that nearly 1500 innocent people have been wrongly given criminal records by the Criminal Records Bureau, Nick Clegg MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Home Secretary said "These revelations take Home Office incompetence to new absurd levels. "While dangerous criminals are allowed to walk freely in our communities, innocent people are being given criminal records and prevented from getting on with their lives. "This latest fiasco will erase the last bit of public confidence in the Home Office."
