Inadequate support for children living in shadow of alcohol abuse - Webb

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 18th May 2006

Commenting on Turning Point's national campaign in support of children living with parents who misuse alcohol, Liberal Democrat Shadow Health Secretary, Steve Webb MP said "The support currently provided to the 1.3m children whose parents misuse alcohol is wholly inadequate. Worryingly, NHS deficits could threaten the few projects which already exist to address the problem.

"These children are at increased risk of domestic violence, family breakdown, and behavioural problems. If the Government fails to properly support them it will be neglecting some of the most vulnerable people in our society."
