Arms to Israel investigation essential - Moore

Liberal Democrat Shadow Foreign Secretary, Michael Moore MP

Following revelations about the transfer of arms from the United States of America to Israel via Prestwick Airport, Liberal Democrat Shadow Foreign Secretary, Michael Moore MP has written a letter to Margaret Beckett calling for an investigation.

Commenting, Michael Moore MP said "In light of Israel's disproportionate military attacks against civilians and the civilian infrastructure in Lebanon and Gaza, in contravention of international law, the Foreign Secretary is right to be angered that the US is supplying Israel with high tech weaponry via the UK.

"What is urgently needed is a review of the transhipment of arms through the UK and action to prevent any further such transfers to Israel.

"The apparently deliberate targeting of United Nations military observers underscores the perpetration of serious violations of humanitarian law and the overwhelming case for an immediate suspension of the transfer of arms."
