Climate change bill needed to reduce emissions- Huhne

9.46.40pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 1st Sep 2006

Dundee LibDems welcome news on climate change

The Liberal Democrats along with representatives of several NGOs and other political parties have written to the Prime Minister calling for a law on climate change to be promised in the next Queen's speech.

Commenting on the letter to the Prime Minister, which calls for a climate change Bill to help reduce CO2 emissions, Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, Chris Huhne MP said "A climate change Bill would be a useful tool in the fight against global warming. It would set a legally binding target forcing both the Tory and Labour parties to come forward with concrete measures to reduce harmful emissions, as the Liberal Democrats have done."
