Climate change bill needed to reduce emissions- Huhne9.46.40pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 1st Sep 2006
The Liberal Democrats along with representatives of several NGOs and other political parties have written to the Prime Minister calling for a law on climate change to be promised in the next Queen's speech. Commenting on the letter to the Prime Minister, which calls for a climate change Bill to help reduce CO2 emissions, Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, Chris Huhne MP said "A climate change Bill would be a useful tool in the fight against global warming. It would set a legally binding target forcing both the Tory and Labour parties to come forward with concrete measures to reduce harmful emissions, as the Liberal Democrats have done."
