Commenting on the reports that the recent air crash in Afghanistan was likely to be the result of technical failures, leader of the Liberal Democrats, Sir Menzies Campbell said "The Defence Secretary's comments that the cause of the crash was most likely due to mechanical failure underlies the need for a detailed and far-reaching investigation.

"We owe nothing less to those who risk their lives everyday."
