Commenting on George Bush's admission that the CIA used secret prisons outside the US to hold foreign suspects, Liberal Democrat Leader Sir Menzies Campbell said "The President's admission confirms what many suspected and his administration has consistently denied. It will provide yet more ammunition for the jihadists and profoundly disturb America's friends.

"Mr Blair's continuing association with the foreign policy of the Bush administration means that Britain's reputation will yet again be damaged."
