Blair talks of Action on Global Warming but still no sign of change at home

4.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 23rd Oct 2006

Commenting on Tony Blair's call for action on Global Warming, Liberal Democrat Environment spokesperson Chris Huhne said "Blairs call would ring rather less hollow if the Government were taking effective action at home. Green taxes have fallen to their lowest level since Mrs Thatcher was Prime Minister and the Government is cutting budgets related to climate change for both flood defences and research. Until the Government starts practicing what it preaches, nobody should take its green credentials seriously."
