Commenting on George Bush's announcement that Donald Rumsfeld is to stand down as Defense Secretary, Leader of the Liberal Democrats, Menzies Campbell said "Donald Rumsfeld has paid the price for a policy of which he was the principal architect and whose implementation has been disastrous.

"No Minister in the in the UK has taken anything like the same responsibility for our Government's policy. The British public will draw their own conclusions."
