Blair lacks credibility to push through climate change goals - Huhne12.42.37pm GMT Mon 29th Jan 2007
Responding to Tony Blair's speech to the World Economic Forum that a major breakthrough on climate change is near, Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, Chris Huhne MP said: "The US midterm elections marked a real shift in attitudes. "The country responsible for a quarter of global emissions may now be ready to mandate emissions limits and negotiate a post-Kyoto framework from 2012. "The shame is that the Prime Minister's international standing is so battered by the Iraq disaster that he no longer has the credibility to help push such a package through." Applicability: this item refers to England and Wales. Due to devolution, detailed policy may be different in other areas of the UK.
