Environment must be at heart of all policies - Campbell

Today, at a special manifesto meeting of the Liberal Democrat Federal Policy Committee (FPC), Liberal Democrat Leader and Chair of the FPC, Menzies Campbell, called for the environment to be at the heart of all policies.

Commenting, Menzies Campbell said:

"The report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change shows that we have to act quickly to tackle climate change.

"We are the only major party with practical proposals for fairer and greener, not higher, taxes.

"However, to maintain our credibility in this area we must ensure that we measure and minimise the environmental impact of all our policies.

"We will be bringing forward proposals in each area of the economy which will tackle the problem of carbon emissions sector by sector."
