THE FUTURE OF LAND ROVER SHOULD BE DEBATED IN PARLIAMENT - LORELY BURT4.33.13pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 28th Jun 2007 Solihull MP Lorely Burt has today called for a debate in the House of Commons to discuss the future of Land Rover and Jaguar and what part the Government is prepared to play in ensuring its long time future. In reply, the Leader of the House of Commons, Rt. Hon. Jack Straw MP said:
"I understand the anxiety felt by many people about the future of the car industry in the west midlands… The picture in respect of the motor industry is very mixed. Question marks hang over some parts of it, but I very much hope that that is not true of Jaguar, as it produces very fine world-beating motor cars." Mrs Burt has also called for a Westminster Hall Debate to discuss this matter. Mrs Burt said that: "The future success of Land Rover and Jaguar is vital for the workforce and for economic prosperity in Solihull and across the region. I will continue to fight for the future of these world class companies."
