FINED FOR SMOKING AT HOME - BURT

11.21.58pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 2nd Jul 2007

Commenting on the introduction of the no-smoking ban, Liberal Democrat Small Business Spokesperson, Lorely Burt MP said:

"These new rules are bad news for people running businesses from home. They could be fined for smoking in their own homes. They could even be fined if they don't put up no-smoking signs.

Lorely Burt MP

" And if a visitor were to smoke on their premises, they could get hammered by up to £2,500.

"We need a sensible approach to legislation which affects small business, not a clunking fist.
