ELDERSFIELD RESIDENTS STILL WITHOUT EMERGENCY WATER SUPPLIES5.37.40pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 30th Jul 2007 West Worcestershire's Parliamentary Candidate, Richard Burt has criticised Severn Trent for failing to reach many residents in Eldersfield with water bowsers. Mr Burt, who has been working closely with County Councillor Tom Wells, said that despite the best efforts of Councillor Wells and parish councillors to ship in water bottles and press Severn Trent to provide bowsers, no water has yet been supplied to large parts of Eldersfield by Severn Trent.
Richard Burt said: "Residents have told me how difficult it is to speak to anybody at Severn Trent. Even now you end up listening to recorded messages that ask you to ring different numbers to talk to a real person. "It is quite unforgivable that the fourth biggest water company in the world cannot make it easy for people, particularly the elderly living in isolated rural areas, to report problems one week on from the main flood event. "It is good to see that some areas will be back on mains water today, but Severn Trent must do more to supply Eldersfield residents with emergency supplies until the taps can be turned back on."
