SHIRLEY MUMS' 'BREAKTHROUGH BREAST CANCER' WALK

9.33.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Sun 2nd Sep 2007

Shirley mum, Jane Pender has teamed up with eleven other mums whose children all attend Cheswick Green Primary School to form 'Bossom Buddies'. The team, including one mother who has survived breast cancer, will be travelling to London next weekend to take part in the 44km Aviva Walk London event supporting Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Jane, who brought her new baby home from hospital on the same day that her neighbour also returned from hospital - with a diagnosis of breast cancer, has been training hard for the event by swimming half a mile every day and taking kick boxing lessons with her children.

SHIRLEY MUMS’ ‘BREAKTHROUGH BREAST CANCER’ WALK

"I spent the last two years watching her neighbour go through a personal fight with this disease and from then on I became more and more aware of how many people have been effected in the same way. It seemed to be everywhere, so I wanted to do my bit to help," said Jane.

The 44km walk represents one kilometre for each 1000 breast cancer cases that will be diagnosed this year. Each member of the team hopes to raise more than £500 for the charity.

Solihull's MP, Lorely Burt said:

"I wish Jane and the 'Bossom Buddies' team good luck and would be happy to receive any donations for their walk made out to Breakthrough Breast Cancer and forwarded to me at my office."

Donations can be sent to Lorely Burt MP, 41 Warwick Road, Solihull, B92 7HS
