GOVERNMENT SPENDING REVIEW SHORT CHANGES SOLIHULL SCHOOLS AGAIN5.31.12pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 10th Oct 2007 Solihull's MP, Lorely Burt has condemned Gordon Brown fro short changing Solihull schools again as part of the three year Comprehensive Spending Review announcements in Parliament yesterday. Commenting on the small print outlining spending priorities for education, Lorely Burt MP said: "Whilst I welcome the extra money for education, yet again Solihull schools have been short changed, receiving the lowest capital spending allocations awarded to West Midlands Metropolitan and City councils. "Solihull schools already suffer from chronic under-funding per pupil compared to neighbouring Birmingham. Now they will receive the lowest allocation of capital funds, £13,392,519 over the next three years.
"This is postcode discrimination for Solihull families. Why should schools in Solihull have less spent on them than those in Sandwell, Walsall or Wolverhampton? "I will be writing to Jim Knight MP, the Minister of State for Schools and Learners to ask him for a fairer deal for Solihull."
