Solihull MP Lorely Burt, who's constituency is the home of Land Rover production, today spoke passionately about the future the company and of British car manufacturing in a Westminster debate. As Land Rover and Jaguar await the outcome of negotiations for a new owner for the classic marques, Mrs Burt praised the performance of Land Rover and said that the company had a bright future in the right hands. Lorely Burt MP said: "Land Rover is an iconic brand revered around the world. Sales are up 27% on last year and Land Rover celebrates its 60th birthday enjoying its third successive record year of sales. "Seventy per cent of Land Rover production is exported, contributing positively to our export balance of payments and helping to boost the economy both in Solihull and nationally. "Ford have also invested £1billion in low carbon technology, including big improvements planned for Land Rover vehicles. "Car manufacturers flock to the UK because we are at the cutting edge of innovative design and technology and we are simply the best at engineering and putting our energies in to meeting the climate change challenge."
